QUEZON CITY – Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario will lead today (Monday) a department-wide New Year’s Call aimed at shaping the direction of housing sector for 2021.
The New Year’s Call includes top officials of DHSUD’s key shelter agencies (KSAs), namely, the National Housing Authority, the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund, the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation and the Social Housing Finance Corporation who will be attending via video conference.
On the other hand, Secretary Del Rosario and other key officials of DHSUD will be at the Central Office for the call while all DHSUD Regional Offices heads will be joining via video conference.
The DHSUD chief is expected to issue his guidance for 2021 including the priority thrusts for the year centered on keeping the housing sector vibrant and delivering “superior” public service.
Among DHSUD’s priority thrusts for 2021 as laid out during the yearend assessment last month are the finalization of the 20-year National Housing and Urban Development Sector Plan that will help secure the future of the country’s housing sector; the improvement of DHSUD’s systems and processes to boost the department’s efforts in championing the Ease of Doing Business Act as well as the operationalization of the Housing One-Stop Processing Centers.
Third is the enhancement of data-driven policies, programs and processes which DHSUD will bank on information technology to develop a system capable of storing vital and updated housing-related data nation-wide and the further empowerment and equipping of the department’s human resources.
Secretary Del Rosario also intends to cement stronger partnerships with all stakeholders, particularly partner-developers and local government units towards well-planned land use and urban development, and effective policies and guidelines.
DHSUD is also bullish on building closer coordination with homeowners’ associations as well as civil society organizations in implementing urban renewal and urban development projects, especially in the optimization of idle government land.
As for improving further the country’s housing production, Secretary Del Rosario remains committed in assisting the underprivileged Filipinos realize their dream of owning a house of their own.
“At DHSUD, we consider shelter is a right, home ownership is an option and it is our responsibility to capacitate and provide opportunities to all Filipinos, especially the poorest of the poor, to own their dream houses,” Secretary Del Rosario vowed.
