QUEZON CITY – Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario has formally opened a webinar series aimed at informing and boosting engagement with stakeholders in promoting a vibrant housing sector.

In his message, the housing czar said the webinar series is part of DHSUD’s efforts in further raising public awareness on the department’s functions and goals, as well as to cement stronger relations with all stakeholders, especially its partner-developers.

It also seeks to highlight DHSUD’s accomplishments, particularly in providing unwavering public service despite previous calamities and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“Despite the pandemic, we never stopped exploring ways to fully open our doors to our stakeholders and the public to offer our services and other pertinent information relevant to human settlements and urban development,” Secretary Del Rosario stressed.

“This webinar series, among other activities that we have for the month, is just one of the many initiatives that we intend to offer to massively engage our partners toward attaining our dreams and aspirations for the Filipino people,” he noted.

DHSUD Housing and Real Estate Development Bureau OIC-Director Atty. Angelito Aguila took the lead in the first webinar, which highlighted major policies and regulatory issuances on subdivision and condominium development.

In his presentation, Atty. Aguila discussed DHSUD’s background, its mandate and functions and accomplishments in laying the foundations of the country’s housing and urban development sector.

He likewise highlighted the HREDB’s role in boosting the department’s regulatory processes and answered some pivotal questions from participants.

The discussion focused on relevant updates and key measures being enforced by the department in line with bolstering efforts with partner-developers in streamlining housing-related processes and help them cope with the new normal.

Secretary Del Rosario, meanwhile, pledged that DHSUD will leave no stone unturned in championing the Ease of Doing Business in terms of housing-related transactions with the government. He noted that the webinar series can become a tool in achieving the department and its partner-developers’ common goals.

“This manifests our zealous commitment to nourish our partnership with the private sector as we move to contributing to the economic recovery of the country,” Secretary Del Rosario said.

“Through this webinar and the ones to come, we hope to cement ties that we have already developed through all the challenges that we mutually experienced in this sector,” he added.

The webinar series, to be held throughout the month of February, is part of DHSUD’s second-year anniversary celebration themed “Tahanang ligtas, abot-kaya at matatag; Pamayanang ligtas at panatag” that began on Monday.

It will also feature similar online fora involving the department’s bureaus and will tackle key issues, including those concerning homeowners’ associations. (30) – CVC
